About

There's a tiny revolution going on in consumer video and, paradoxically, it's going to be huge.

When the first home videotape cameras were introduced, they were said to herald a new age of personal video. What they did, however, was simply replace the Super 8 film camera we'd come to know and loathe, with a somewhat simpler but certainly more bulky alternative.

Over the past several years, the bulk and several tape formats—so long, Beta, we hardly knew ye—have disappeared, but until relatively recently, truly portable, truly personal video cameras have been but a dream.

But all that is changing. There's a new breed of video camera, inexpensive, free from tape and moving parts and—this is the most important part—incredibly tiny. Freed from the need to tote around tapes, batteries, bags and other assorted accessories, these palm- and pocket-sized video cameras are making our personal video dreams come true.

Wee Video is a blog and community forum dedicated to these new ickle beasties, tiny cams from makers the likes of Pure Digital, Aiptek, Creative Labs, Sanyo and others. It's a place where owners, users, fans and outright fanatics of these devices can learn about new cameras, trade tips and techniques and generally enthuse about what wee cameras like the Flip Video or the Aiptek HD can do.

This site isn't affiliated with or sanctioned by any particularly camera maker. It's just a place for wee we the people to share our passion for personal video.

We're glad you're here. Check out the Wee Video blog for the latest news from the world tiny cams, or join a discussion in the Wee Video Community Forums. Viva la wee revolution!
